The British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that new measures to enhance the safety of air traffic control operations in the Bristol and Cardiff areas have been approved.

The CAA said that revised Class D Control Zones (CTRs) and Control Areas (CTAs) will be introduced on 31 August. The approval of the changes reportedly follows a review of local airspace arrangements by both Bristol and Cardiff International Airports and their subsequent consultation with the aviation community, local government and environmental groups, in accordance with the CAA's Airspace Change Process.

The airspace revisions are designed to enhance flight safety in the area and are also expected to bring environmental benefits.
