Microsoft Corp has cancelled three meetings in New Orleans, citing a lack of scheduled flights in and out of the city as the cause.

The three meetings were expected to bring a total of more than 30,000 people to New Orleans in 2007 and were to be the first meetings held by the company in the city since Hurricane Katrina. Microsoft has reportedly organised several worldwide events in New Orleans since 2002.

According to Microsoft spokeswoman Robyn Kratzer, the company had to cancel the planned events as it proved too problematic to transport thousands of attendees, including some international ones, in and out of the city, The Associated Press reported.

The air service at Louis Armstrong International Airport is reportedly only operating at 61% of what it was before Katrina.
