Improvements in Canadian airport security have been "few and far between" since the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, according to a Canadian Senate panel.

The Associated Press reported that the all-party security and defence committee wants airport security to be shifted from Transport Canada to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

In addition the panel yesterday (21 March) also stated that the national police force needs to hire 600-800 officers to take on the job.
