LAN Airlines reports preliminary monthly traffic statistics and punctuality indicators for March 2008

Preliminary monthly traffic statistics and punctuality indicators have been reported for March 2008 by LAN Airlines SA and its related companies (NYSE:LFL) (IPSA:LAN), an airline group in Latin America.
The airline said system passenger traffic increased 14.2% for March 2008, with capacity increasing 9.2% and load factor by 3.5 points to 79.5%.
International passenger traffic increased 14.6% for March 2008 as capacity increased 10.5%, accounting for around 88% of total passenger traffic; while international passenger load factor increased 2.9 points to 80.6% for March 2008.
The company reported a 11.1% increase in domestic passenger traffic for March 2008 as capacity increased 1.5%, with domestic load factor increasing 6.3 points to 72.7%.
The airline's cargo traffic grew 10.3% for March 2008 as capacity increased 12.4%, with the cargo load factor decreasing 1.4 points to 73.5%, which was affected primarily by increased regional route capacity.
According to LAN Airlines, 86.3% of its total flights left on time in March 2008, based on a 15 minute standard, representing a 2.9 points increase in comparison to March 2007.
