SPSS Predictive Analytics software selected by Sikorsky Aircraft

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp, a designer and manufacturer of helicopters and a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), announced on Tuesday (22 April) that the company has selected Predictive Analytics software from SPSS Inc (Nasdaq: SPSS), a provider of predictive analytics software and solutions, to increase customer loyalty.

SPSS' software will reportedly proactively anticipate customer needs in helicopter fleets.

The SPSS Predictive Analytics text mining and data mining software and its Predictive Analytics enterprise-wide enabling platform will enable the company to analyse helicopter and pilot data collected by the aircraft health and usage monitoring system and flight maintenance log records.

The company said that by incorporating information from all data sources, it will be able to determine the relationships between how the aircraft is being operated and maintained and the consumption of parts.

A deep understanding of these correlations is expected to allow Sikorsky to take proactive action to reduce direct maintenance costs.
