Airline Industry Information, April 28, 2008
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
US aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) has revealed that the 787 Dreamliner static test airframe has been moved from its Final Assembly facility in Everett to its structural test rig.
During static tests the company will apply loads to the aircraft structure, simulating normal operation as well as extreme flight conditions. The aim is to confirm analytical predictions about the 787 structure and make sure it withstands such conditions.
Testing is planned to start in the summer.
Boeing will also now begin assembly of the third 787 to enter the flight test programme.
