LAN Airlines reports growth in profit for Q1

Chile-based LAN Airlines S.A. (NYSE: LFL) has reported a 5.8% growth in net income for the first quarter of 2008.

Net income for the first three months of this year amounted to USD91.1m, compared to USD86.1m in the same period a year ago.

The airline's total revenues for the first quarter of 2008 were USD1,077.9m, up from USD831.3m last year, with passenger revenues up 29.0% and cargo revenues up 32.4%.
