Hawaiian Airlines Inc said on Wednesday (30 April) that it had reached a settlement of its lawsuit with Mesa Air Group Inc.

The action concerned Mesa's alleged misuse of confidential and proprietary information obtained during Hawaiian's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in 2004.

Under the settlement Hawaiian Airlines will receive a cash payment of USD52.5m. In addition Mesa will withdraw its appeal of the USD80m judgment (plus interest, attorney's fees and costs) awarded against Mesa by the US Bankruptcy Court in October 2007.

Mesa said in a statement that the settlement does not restrict in any way the ability of its go! carrier to continue to offer services in the Hawaiian inter-island market.
