Daily non-stop service is to be introduced from Miami, USA, to Antigua, in the eastern Caribbean, this autumn by American Airlines, reportedly providing the only non-stop service currently scheduled between Miami and the island.

The airline said it will start flying the Miami-Antigua route on 20 November 2008 using Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with 16 first class seats and 132 in the main cabin. It claimed the new service complements existing services offered by the airline and its American Eagle regional affiliate to Antigua from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Flight 1907 will depart from Miami at 11:00, arriving 15:00 in Antigua, local time; while flight 1906 will depart 16:15 from Antigua, arriving in Miami at 18:40, local time.

Antigua is located around 290 miles southeast of San Juan and is known for its beaches, sunny climate, sailing and yachting facilities and well preserved coral reefs, offering snorkelling and diving opportunities.
