LAN CARGO starts operations in Central America

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
LAN CARGO, the freight division of Latin America's LAN Airlines (NYSE: LFL), announced on 25 August that it will start operations between Miami and Guatemala City, Guatemala and San Jose, Costa Rica next month.
The service will be operated using Boeing 767-300F aircraft, with a new Boeing 777F aircraft being added to the route in the first quarter of 2009.
According to the airline the current air cargo market for Central America amounts to approximately 180,000 tons of cargo annually to and from the United States.
