AviIT to support all ACARS services across fleet of Etihad Airways

Aviation technology solutions company AviIT has announced that the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, has awarded AviIT the contract to support all ACARS services across its Airbus and Boeing aircraft fleet.
The company said that ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System) is a digital data system enabling two way transmission of messages between aircraft and ground stations via VHF, HF or satellite communication systems.
Under the terms of the contract AviIT has deployed its Archimedes and Airboard system to maximise the commercial and operational benefits that can be derived from ACARS data.

AviIT said that it is working in conjunction with Etihad staff to standardise ACARS usage across the fleet, implement services such as automated Flight Operations Log transmission and integrate ACARS data with engineering fault diagnostic systems, crew planning and fuel planning systems to provide management information from raw ACARS data.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
