Designer and manufacturer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), announced on Tuesday (19 February) that Israel Aerospace Industries has signed an exclusive three-year agreement for Pratt & Whitney JT9D new high pressure compressor (HPC) blades.

Under the terms of the agreement, which is valued at over USD4m, the HPC blades will be offered at the company's engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facilities.

The HPC blade kits reportedly reduce engine maintenance cost, increase time on wing and improve fuel burn.
