Pratt & Whitney Wins awarded USD200m V2500Select engine deal by Tiger Airways

Designer and manufacturer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE: UTX), announced on Tuesday (19 February) that Tiger Airways, an airline based in Singapore, has selected the International Aero Engines V2500Select to power 20 Airbus A320-family jets, under its fleet expansion plan.
Tiger Airways currently operates a fleet of 12 V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium comprising of shareholders Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce (RR.L.), the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.

The order for engines to power 20 firm aircraft is valued at over USD200m for Pratt & Whitney, if all options are exercised. The engines will be backed by a long-term V2500Select service agreement, the company said.
Deliveries under the order are expected through 2016.
