Checked baggage policy altered by US Airways

A service fee of USD25 for a second checked bag is to be implemented by US Airways (NYSE: LCC).

The airline said that the fee is applicable to travel that occurs on or after 5 May 2008 on all flights within the US, to/from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. The fee only applies to tickets purchased on or after 26 February 2008.

The fee will be waived for frequent travellers including: all Dividend Miles Preferred members; confirmed First Class and Envoy passengers; Star Alliance Silver and Gold status members; active military personnel (in uniform with ID); unaccompanied minors; and passengers checking assistive devices.
