New food-for-sale options announced by American Airlines

American Airlines (NYSE: AMR) has announced that it is to alter the items available in its Economy Class food-for-sale programme effective from 1 March.

American also said it will begin testing several new beverages on its flights over the next three months.

The airline said that the featured food-for-sale products on flights departing before 10:00 are to include GNS Vanilla Honey Trail Mix and Mega Bite Chocolate Chunk Cookies for USD3 each. Flights that leave after 10:00 will also offer Lay's Stax Potato Crisps for USD3.

In addition the airline also announced that it will test three speciality beverages on all food-for-sale flights through 31 May. The test will feature Lipton Green Tea with Citrus, vitaminwater and smartwater, all of which will be available for USD3.

The airline will offer Lipton Green Tea with Citrus between 1-31 March; vitaminwater between 1-30 April; and smartwater between 1-31 May.
