Finnair Plc reports operating profit and turnover up in 2007

Finnish airline Finnair Plc issued on Tuesday (5 February) its results for the financial year 2007, reporting operating profit of EUR97m, up from EUR11m in 2006.

Turnover for the 12-month period increased by 10% to EUR2.2bn during the same period.

In 2007 Finnair carried nearly 9 million passengers. Passenger traffic overall grew by 13%, while Asian traffic grew by over 30%, the company said.

Passenger load factor overall was 76% and was slightly higher on Asian flights. Passenger traffic unit revenue per passenger kilometre fell by 2%, while in Asian traffic it rose slightly.

Finnair said that it will invest a total of nearly EUR700m in new long-haul aircraft in 2008 and 2009.
