Passenger carrying gun passes through security checkpoint at Reagan National Airport

Authorities in the US have revealed that a passenger carrying a gun was able to pass through a security checkpoint at Reagan National Airport last Sunday (20 January).
The federal Transportation Security Administration stated that the male passenger had been screened before boarding his flight and, as a result, the screener had been relieved of security duties.
According to The Washington Post, the man realised that he had the gun and returned voluntarily to the security checkpoint at the airport, serving gates 23 to 34.

The man is due to appear in Arlington County General District Court on 2 April on a charge of possessing or transporting a firearm into an airline terminal.
