London Southend airport for sale

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Regional Airports (RAL) has announced that it has placed London Southend airport up for sale.
A sale is reportedly being sought in order to fund the airport's development as London's sixth airport.
According to The Financial Times, the company is developing plans for a railway station to open at the airport in 2009 and for the runway to be extended by 2011, with a new terminal being constructed in time for the 2012 London Olympics.
