Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) has reported details of the new 180-degree lie-flat seats it will be installing in BusinessFirst cabins on certain aircraft.
The new seats will be installed on Boeing 787, 777 and 757 aircraft. The seats will start to be used on mainly transatlantic and transpacific flights on Boeing 777 aircraft starting in autumn 2009. Continental's Boeing 757-200 fleet will have the seats installed at the start of 2010, while Boeing 787 aircraft will have the seats installed as they are delivered to the airline.
The seats, designed by BE Aerospace, enable passengers to lie completely flat (at a 180-degree angle) using electronic 'one-touch' controls, and provide around 6.5 feet, or 2 metres, of sleeping space when fully extended.
