AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) has announced that it will be increasing baggage fees for both international and domestic flights.
The fee changes include an increase to the charge for checking a second piece of luggage on domestic flights from USD25 to USD50 and fees for speciality items, including surfboards and ski equipment, increasing on both domestic and international services.
Passengers on international flights will still be able to check two pieces of luggage with no charge, while First Class, BusinessElite and Medallion customers will continue to be able to check three bags at no cost.
The changes will apply to flights booked from 31 July for travel from 5 August 2008.
Delta has stated that record high fuel prices have forced the changes.
