An issue with an American Airlines baggage handling system at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport yesterday (30 July) caused delays and cancellations of several flights.
The problems occurred at Terminal 8 in the airport.
According to the Associated Press, six American Airlines flights scheduled to fly from the terminal this morning (31 July) were cancelled, while 48 flights have been subject to delays since the problems started.
Reuters has reported that workers were manually sorting bags, but many pieces of luggage did not reach aircraft. The airline has reportedly stated that it will not charge baggage fees for first and second checked bags for those affected by the problems.
