New in-flight e-mail solution from BaySys

Airline Industry Information,  June 10, 2008

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

BaySys, a provider of services and product solutions for aircraft, has introduced a new solution for in-flight e-mail messaging.

The technology enables passengers to use any BlackBerry 8820/8320 Wi-Fi enabled Smartphone to send and receive e-mails while in-flight. It also allows users to access e-mails and PC Internet applications concurrently.

The service is always "on" and is available from take-off to landing, as well as on-board while on the ground, even when no wireless network data coverage is available. Customers do not incur roaming charges when using the in-flight messaging solution overseas.

BaySys says that, in partnership with Honeywell, it can outfit any aircraft to provide this service as part of a standard HSD installation in conjunction with any current aircraft certified WLAN router such as the CNX 200.
