A scanner-based cargo tracking system is to be implemented by Alaska Air Cargo.
The airline said that the new system will provide customers with more timely information about the arrival of shipments on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
The carriers will use scanner-equipped cellular devices to scan cargo when it arrives at its final destination, with the arrival information being wirelessly uploaded to the airlines' cargo data management system and to http://www.alaskaair.com. This will enable customers to track arrival information online in near real time.
