Jeppesen, a subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, a unit of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (NYSE: BA), reported on 24 March that it has received approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its Airport Moving Map application for Class 2 EFB devices.

The product, which is reportedly the first to receive FAA approval, uses GPS technology to create maps of an airport's surface, which allows pilots to see their position on the runway.

The aim of the Airport Moving Map application is to increase the awareness of aircrafts' positions for flight crews and to prevent accidents on the runways.

Jeppesen delivers solutions which integrate people, processes and technology for safer, efficient and economic air, sea and rail travel around the world.
