An order for 25 regional aircraft from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd has been placed by Japan-based carrier All Nippon Airways Co.

The order, which is for 15 aircraft, with an option for a further 10, is valued at approximately JPY60bn.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013.

According to Bloomberg, the new aircraft is to use the same type of light-weight, carbon-fibre body parts Mitsubishi Heavy makes for the new 787 Dreamliner from Boeing and will be powered by engines made by United Technologies Corp's Pratt & Whitney unit.
