UK based carrier British Airways and the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) are scheduled to begin talks today (3 March) in an attempt to avert possible strike action.
Pilots at BA had previously voted in favour of strike action after claims that the launch of new BA subsidiary OpenSkies could mean pay and conditions at BA would be challenged, due to the lower operating costs of OpenSkies.
According to Cheapflights.co.uk, BALPA's BA pilots had previously voted 86% in favour of strike action, with today's talks involving conciliation service Acas in an attempt to avert the need for work stoppages.
