Astronics wins power distribution system contract for Boeing 787 IFE system

Astronics Corporation (NASDAQ: ATRO), a provider of lighting, electrical power generation, control and distribution systems for the aerospace industry, has won a contract to supply a power distribution system for installation on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Astronics has entered into an agreement with Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) to develop and supply the power distribution system that will be integrated with Panasonic's in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for the aircraft.
Astronics said that its power distribution system will provide power to both Panasonic's latest X Series IFE system as well as directly to passengers to power their personal electronic devices.
The X Series has been selected by Boeing as a recommended system on the 787.
The value of the deal for Astronics was not disclosed.
