DOT approves transatlantic antitrust immunity for Northwest and SkyTeam partners

Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA) has been granted expanded antitrust immunity by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for its SkyTeam alliance.

The ruling gives transatlantic antitrust immunity to Northwest and five of its SkyTeam partners: Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Alitalia and CSA Czech Airlines.

According to Northwest the expanded antitrust immunity will enable greater coordination among the six airlines on transatlantic services.
