Boeing collaboration aids flight of medical supplies to Chinese earthquake victims

The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) confirmed on Saturday (24 May) that it will be delivering nearly three tonnes of medical supplies to China, in collaboration with Shenzhen Airlines, Medical Teams International, and Mercy Corps.

The delivery, nicknamed 'Flight of Hope', has been supplied by Medical Teams International and is being taken to help the Chinese earthquake victims on a new Boeing 737-800. It will then be transferred to domestic airline Shenzhen Airlines to be finally delivered to Chengdu, the capital of Shenzhen province, in the next few days.

Mercy Corps and All China Youth Federation will distribute the supplies within the earthquake region.

Boeing also confirmed that it has pledged USD250,000 to the American Red Cross for earthquake relief and will match contributions made by its employees and retirees through to 12 June. The current combined total exceeds USD500,000.
