Scottish low-cost airline Flyglobespan is being prosecuted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), following claims it breached safety rules when a flight from Liverpool to New York was allowed to depart, even though it had faulty engine sensors.

According to BCC News, Flyglobespan is being issued a summons by the CAA for allegedly breaching regulations which govern commercial flights - the Air Navigation Order.

Flyglobespan denied safety breaches and insists that passenger safely was never compromised, said the BBC. However, the airline has said that two senior managers had been replaced and improved reporting systems have been introduced.

The airline mainly flies from Scotland and northern England to North American destinations include Calgary, Toronto, Boston and New York.
