ExpressJet Holdings (NYSE: XJT) has declared September 2008 traffic and capacity results for its subsidiary ExpressJet Airlines.
During the month revenue passenger miles under contract flying amounted to 518m and 732m available seat miles were flown, resulting in a load factor of 70.8%. ExpressJet's contract operation consists of flying for Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines under capacity purchase agreements and also the company's charter (corporate aviation) service.
Revenue passenger miles for ExpressJet's branded operation were 3m and available seat miles amounted to 4m, leading to a load factor of 75% for September 2008. The branded business, which includes flights under the ExpressJet name and pro-rate flying for Delta, operated for only one day during the month.
On 1 September the company suspended flying under both the capacity purchase agreement and pro-rate agreement with Delta and also under ExpressJet's branded operation because of the continued high cost of fuel.
Traffic and capacity figures from September 2007 were not available for comparison.
