Hamilton Sundstrand's Kidde Aerospace & Defence unit selected by Gulfstream for fire detection system

Hamilton Sundstrand, a supplier of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products and a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), announced on Wednesday (15 October) that Gulfstream has selected the company's Kidde Aerospace & Defence unit to provide the engine fire detection system for Gulfstream's new G650 business jet.

The engine and nacelle-mounted fire detectors and control unit are designed and manufactured by Kidde Graviner in Colnbrook, England.

Kidde Graviner currently supplies Gulfstream the engine fire detection system for its G350, G450, G500 and G550 aircraft.

Gulfstream has previously selected Hamilton Sundstrand to provide several major systems on its new G650 business jet, including the primary Electrical Power Generating System, the emergency power Ram Air Turbine and power distribution boxes.

Financial details of the contract were not available.
