Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), which supplies advanced technology systems, and Raytheon (NYSE:RTN), a provider of defence and homeland security technology, have been working together to update air traffic systems at four US airports.
The Raytheon-Lockheed Martin team have developed and installed automated radar processing and display systems at Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facilities and associated air traffic control towers in Chicago, Denver, St Louis and Minneapolis-St Paul as part of the US Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Terminal Area Modernization Replacement (TAMR) programme.
Raytheon is the prime contractor for the programme, which will help the FAA in its mission to ensure aviation safety and efficiency for airline passengers, whilst improving the computer-human interface within the National Airspace System with features such as multiple radar sensor displays and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities.
