Southwest Airlines announces financial results for Q3

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) has released financial results for the third quarter of 2008.
Net income for the quarter, excluding special items, was USD69m, a drop of 55.8% from the third quarter 2007.
The airline reported record quarterly revenues of USD2.9m for the third quarter 2008, an increase of 11.7% from the same period last year. According to the airline, this is Southwest's 70th consecutive quarterly operating profit.
