Qantas launches inaugural A380 service from Australia to US west coast

Australian based carrier Qantas has announced the launch of its inaugural A380 service from Melbourne to Los Angeles today (20 October).
The launch reportedly makes the carrier the first airline to operate commercial A380 flights between Australia and the US West Coast.
The airline said that the inaugural flight left Melbourne at 11:15 today (20 October) and is scheduled to land in Los Angeles at 07:30.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, the flight will be met by the American actor John Travolta, Australian singer Olivia Newton-John and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Qantas is also scheduled to launch its first A380 service from Sydney to Los Angeles on Friday 24 October.
