Universal Detection Technology (UNDT) (OTCBB: UNDT) (FRANKFURT: PO8), a developer of monitoring technologies and bioterrorism detection devices, said on 20 October that it has received a purchase order for its anthrax detection equipment from the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to UNDT, its anthrax detection equipment is used by first responders and private industry throughout the US. The equipment has also been evaluated by UK military as well as the US DOD.

The capacity of the equipment ensures there is no cross-reactivity with near neighbour strains or household powders; no set up time is required; it does not need expensive readers; decontamination is not necessary; there are no false positives or false negatives and there is no hook effect.

As the US organisation responsible for the safety of civil aviation, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issues and enforces regulations and minimum standards regarding manufacturing, operating and maintaining aircraft. It is also in charge of deploying visual and electronic air navigation aids. Systems which support air navigation and air traffic control, including voice and data communications equipment, radar facilities, computer systems and visual display equipment at flight service stations, are also sustained by the FAA.
