Northwest Airlines releases results for third quarter

Northwest Airlines Corporation (NYSE:NWA) has released its financial results for the third quarter 2008.
The airline reported a net loss of USD317m, or USD1.20 per share. This is inclusive of a USD410m non-cash charge associated with marking-to-market out-of-period fuel hedges.
Excluding this charge the airline recorded an adjusted net income of USD93m, or USD0.35 per share. This is in comparison with an adjusted net income of USD232m, excluding charges.
System consolidated passenger unit revenue (PRASM) for the third quarter 2008 showed an increase of 8.1%.
