US Airways releases results for third quarter

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
US Airways Group Inc (NYSE:LCC) has released its results for the third quarter 2008.
The airline reported a net loss for the period of USD242m, or USD2.35 per share. This is excluding special charges totalling USD623m, which include USD488m of unrealised losses as a result of mark-to-market adjustments on fuel hedging instruments.
Mainline passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) for the third quarter 2008 was USD0.1132, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period last year. Mainline cost per available seat mile (CASM) rose by 44.1% to USD0.1601.
