The Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA), which represents pilots of ASTAR Air Cargo, announced on 23 October that it has requested that Congress carry out further investigations into the DHL-UPS agreement.
According to ALPA the agreement between the two companies means that UPS will be given all of DHL's North American cargo air transport operations, which could affect jobs at ASTAR Air Cargo and Airborne Express (ABX).
ALPA represents 53,000 pilots at 37 airlines in the US and Canada, which includes more than 500 pilots working for ASTAR Air Cargo, formerly DHL Airways.
