JetBlue reports results for third quarter 2008

JetBlue Airways Corporation (Nasdaq:JBLU) has released its results for the third quarter 2008.
The airline recorded a net loss of USD4m, or USD0.02 per diluted share, for the quarter, in comparison with a net income of USD23m, or USD0.12 per diluted share, for the third quarter 2007.
Revenue passenger miles for the third quarter 2008 remained unchanged from the same period of last year, at 6.8bn, while capacity decreased by 2.4%, resulting in a load factor for the quarter of 84.0%, a growth of 2.0 percentage points.
Passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) for the quarter showed a year-on-year increase of 16.0% to USD0.989, while operating revenue per available seat mile (RASM) rose by 20.8% from the third quarter 2007 to USD0.1107.
