The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has releases statistics relating to customer service at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports for April to September 2008.

The CAA strengthened the service quality schemes at the airports in March of this year, which it stated was noticeable in improvements at both the airports.

Security queuing times have been significantly improved at both airports since 2007 and cleanliness and pier service is also better in most terminals at the airports.

Acceptable standards were not achieved consistently across all services in all terminals, however, resulting in airport operator BAA paying GBP7.34m in rebates for failing to meet required standards.
