British Airways has announced that next year, starting on Sunday 29 March 2009, its flights from Atlanta will be landing at London's Heathrow Airport.

The Open Skies agreement between the USA and the European Union, signed last March, has made the move from Gatwick Airport possible. Atlanta passengers will arrive, depart or connect through Heathrow's Terminal 5.

British Airways said its Boeing 777 Atlanta-London flights are operated daily, currently between Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport and Gatwick Airport, south of London.
