Air Canada to stop charging second bag fees and include fuel charges in advertised fares
Airline Industry Information, Sept 19, 2008
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Air Canada has reported that it is ceasing all second checked bag charges that were implemented in spring of this year and is incorporating fuel surcharges into advertised base fares on North American flights.
The changes are reportedly a response to decreases in fuel prices.
The fee of USD25 for second checked bags for Tango and Tango Plus fares within North America will be eliminated from 23 September 2008.
Add-on fuel charges that currently range from between CAD20 and CAD60 will be included within advertised base fares to provide customers with increased transparency in fares.
