Wataniya Airways and Sabena technics sign maintenance and repair contract

New Kuwait-based airline Wataniya Airways has reported that it has signed a maintenance and repair contract with Sabena technics, an independent Maintenance and Repair Organisation (MRO).
Under the agreement Sabena technics will perform global maintenance services across the airline's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Sabena technics will also establish a maintenance base in Kuwait that will provide maintenance services to Wataniya Airways.
Wataniya Airways is scheduled to begin flight operations in January 2009 and will be operating seven Airbus A320s by the end of 2010. Should further A320s be purchased by the airline these will also be covered by the new contract with Sabena technics.
Financial details of the agreement were not released.
