Manufacturer and designer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney said on Thursday that it has delivered the first PW4000 Advantage70 engines to Air Caraibes.

The company's PW4168A-1D engines power the new Air Caraibes Airbus A330-300.

Pratt & Whitney said that it offers the Advantage70 both as a new engine and as an upgrade kit for existing engines. The upgrade includes a suite of technology enhancements that can be incorporated during engine overhaul.

The Advantage70 technology is claimed to deliver superior engine performance, including a 2% thrust increase, a 1% reduction in fuel consumption, increased durability and reduced maintenance costs.

The first PW4170 Advantage70 engines for the A330-200 are scheduled to enter service with Air Comet next month.

Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX).
