An Airbus A330-300 operated by Australian airline Qantas encountered severe turbulence during a flight from Hong Kong this morning, the airline has confirmed.
Six passengers and one crew member needed hospital treatment after the aircraft landed.
The flight to Perth encountered turbulence while over Borneo in Malaysia, approximately four hours after departing from Hong Kong. The aircraft continued to its destination on medical advice following the incident.
There were 206 passengers and 13 flight and cabin crew on board.
Qantas Group's head of corporate affairs David Epstein said that there was nothing to link today's incident to other recent inflight incidents involving Airbus A330 aircraft.
