AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

US aircraft maker Boeing (NYSE: BA) said today that the first flight of the 787 Dreamliner will be postponed because a side section of the aircraft needs to be reinforced.

This delay means that the first deliveries of the new model will have to be rescheduled. A revised delivery schedule will be announced by Boeing following the final determination of the modification and testing plan.

It will be several weeks before the new schedule is available, the company noted.

In the meantime engineers will continue with other aspects of testing on the 787.

Boeing said that its financial guidance will be updated to reflect any impact from these changes when the company issues its second quarter 2009 earnings report in July.
