Diesel fume fears kill school bus garage plan
Diesel Fuel News, June 9, 2003
> According to a Detroit Free Press story last week, Utica Community Schools (suburban Detroit, Mich.) cancelled a plan to build a school bus garage in a residential neighborhood because of nearby residents' fears about emissions from idling diesel engines. The school district earlier took heat over disciplining a school newspaper reporter because of a story about a local resident's claim that diesel fumes may have been linked to his health problems; the district ultimately settled a lawsuit with his family when the resident later died.
