Electrically-regenerated diesel particulate filter targets California genset market

Diesel Fuel News, July 21, 2003

Cleaire and Lubrizol announced a deal to market Engine Control Systems (ECS) "Combifilter" for ultra-low-emissions diesel backup power generator sets. California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires DPFs to eliminate particulate matter (PM) from gen-sets. Combifilter ensures soot regeneration via electric resistance heat, from a grid electric connection.

Other Combifilter applications are for diesel-powered forklifts, in materials handling. Electric-heat soot oxidation occurs when forklifts are plugged-in and parked overnight.
