Statoil confirms Kalundborg refinery now making ULSD at close to zero-sulfur
Diesel Fuel News, July 22, 2002
Just-completed upgrades to the Swedish refinery will yield about 1 million tonnes/year of "sulfur-free" diesel (less than 10-ppm sulfur) as a result of a (U.S.)$53 million project, Statoil announced this month. The first ULSD products are being exported to Germany, where fiscal incentives prompt rapid introduction of 10-ppm ULSD.
Meantime, Statoil's Mongstad refinery also is being upgraded for similar "zero-sulfur" fuels by next year.
